In the second part of his trilogy, Kiriakos Hadjiioannou dances a solo choreography to the music of Stravinsky’s “The Firebird”.
With Le Sacre du Printemps – Suite Baloise, Basel-based Greek dancer and choreographer Kiriakos Hadjiioannou successfully presented the first part of a trilogy a year ago, in which he brought his movement research into the local folk dance tradition and the Vogelgryff into harmony with Stravinsky's orchestral composition.
In the second part of his trilogy, Kiriakos Hadjiioannou dances a solo choreography to the music of Stravinsky's The Firebird. Inspired by the traditional Gansabhauet in Sursee, he processes the archaic custom with thoughts about life after death. The movement language created for this examines the relationship between ballet and contemporary dance - and has some sharp punchlines ready.
