DOGGY STYLE is a new production at the interface of dance and sign language. The source of inspiration is the behavioral patterns of dogs and their companions, which are translated into human bodies and souls. In this unconventional way, the choreography revolves around difference, communication and unequal but nevertheless sustainable relationships.
DOGGY STYLE is a continuation of the groundbreaking combination of sign language communication with dance theatre that we developed in 2012 in About Strange Lands and People. This playful and multifaceted dance piece has been shown 30 times in 15 cities and was praised by the Leipziger Volkszeitung as a “magnificent piece in sign language ... with dramaturgical stringency, first-class dance craftsmanship and a feel for atmosphere”.
DOGGY STYLE performances are designed to be accessible to both hearing and non-hearing audiences. After many performances, there will be a discussion with the audience accompanied by a sign language interpreter.
