machina eX moves out into the city: In the hybrid live theater game PATROL, the players become contractors of a fictional company that offers surveillance services on a commission basis in Kreuzberg, or in the Düsseldorf district of Oberbilk. Using their smartphones and supported by friendly humanoid co-workers, they immerse themselves in a game and work world that is laid over urban reality as a wafer-thin fictional layer. As a theatrical future simulation, PATROL makes a world playable in which platform capitalism has opened up the future market of security on demand.
Who is playing along – and who is just here by chance? Who is watching you while you are watching? And to what extent do you follow the company's instructions?
