Actually, everything is as always: As in previous adventures by the Berlin game theater collective machina eX, the players explore interactive rooms, solve puzzles and navigate through a story together. Only now something is wrong. The game is broken. The game is unfinished. The game designer is desperate. This was supposed to be her big hit.
Immersive, participatory, narrative, subversive – a ludo-hermeneutic earthquake!
But no matter how she looks at it, the game is a disaster. In DISASTER, machina eX takes a look behind the scenes and invites the audience to become part of the process of creating a game. Questions about power and control are raised that go beyond aesthetic discourse. How do we deal with rule systems? And how can we agree on rules with others?
